KiiT International School is the first school in the state of Odisha (India) to offer the prestigious IBDP curriculum. At KiiT International School, the IBDP students become responsible young adults. The learning coaches will assist the students to meet the difficult academic demands of the IBDP during these crucial years. The goal is for students to learn how to learn, analyse, and come to thoughtful judgments about humans and society, as well as the scientific processes that shape our society.

The school has a well-stocked ever expanding physical and digital library and well-trained librarians who work closely with our IBDP students. Our labs are state-of-the art and are regularly modernized. As we are growing rapidly, we have started the construction of a separate modern facility exclusively for International Curriculum with Primary School, Middle School & Diploma Programme with a view to develop a full-fledged IB World school.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a pre-university qualification accepted by universities in over 140 countries and opens access to the world’s greatest universities. It is an internationally known, academically challenging pre-university programme. It is known for its dedication to service, high academic standards, and ability to foster worldwide awareness via the study of diverse viewpoints. IBDP aspires to go above and beyond other curricula by cultivating inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring individuals who are driven to succeed. According to research, IB graduates and the abilities and attitudes they develop are highly valued by top institutions in the world.
The IB Core, as well as six topic groups, make up the DP curriculum. IBDP’s Core Element is what makes it distinct from other curricula. Students must choose one subject from each of the six subject groups. Students may opt to study additionally experimental sciences, social sciences, or language courses, instead of a Group 6 arts. Every student needs to study at least three subjects at the Higher Level (HL) and three subjects at the Standard Level (SL).
The IB Core ensures that the approach to learning is interdisciplinary, which builds the capacity to engage with complex ideas and appreciate multiple perspectives.
Extended Essay (EE) is maximum 4000-word autonomous, self-directed research essay.
Theory of Knowledge (TOK) in which students investigate the relationship between study disciplines and the nature of knowing. Students will participate in critical thinking regarding knowledge and experience gained both within and outside the classroom, as well as Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS), in which they will undertake projects connected to those three areas.
The curriculum contains six subject groups together with the DP core. Under six subject groups, three subjects are taken at HL and three at SL. Students can choose one subject from Group 1 to 6 (they also have the option to not take a Group 6 subject and replace it with a second subject from Group 3 or 4.) Final external exams are taken after two years.

The Language and Literature course provides students with the opportunity to study language, texts and culture, and to develop their analytical skills. Literature being a significant part of the course, students explore what aspects of a literary text are specific to an associated culture and what aspects cut across cultural and linguistic boundaries. This enriches the students' international awareness and develops in them the attitude of tolerance, empathy and a genuine respect for perspectives different from their own.
The main emphasis of the modern language courses is on the acquisition and use of language in a range of contexts and for different purposes while, at the same time, promoting an understanding of another culture through the study of its language.
Second language studies develops students' powers of expression, provides them with a resource for the study of other subjects, and brings them into contact with ways of thought which may differ from their own.
Studies of local institutions and global perspectives foster an appreciation of change and continuity as well as similarity and difference.
Students evaluate the major theories, concepts and research findings of the respective disciplines and learn their methodology.
Promotes an understanding of the concepts, principles and applications of the respective disciplines, together with an appreciation of the methodology of the experimental sciences in general. Students develop practical laboratory skills as well as the ability to work collaboratively by participating in an interdisciplinary group project.
Mathematics Analysis and Approaches (HL & SL)
Mathematics HL Analysis and Approaches is a course designed for students who wish to study mathematics in-depth and gain a formal understanding of the subject. It will appeal to students who are interested in exploring real and abstract applications of mathematical concepts. They will enjoy problem solving and generalisation. This course is suitable for students who may go on to further study in subjects that have a significant level of mathematics content, for example Mathematics itself, Engineering, Physical sciences or Economics.
Mathematics Applications and Interpretations (HL & SL)
Mathematics HL Applications and Interpretation is a course designed for students who wish to gain an in-depth knowledge of mathematics, but with an emphasis on the applied nature of the subject. It will appeal to students who enjoy the practical application of mathematics to real life situations. This course is suitable for students who may go on to further study in subjects that utilise mathematics in this way such as biology, the human sciences and business.
The processes of designing and making art require a high level of cognitive ability that is both intellectual and affective. Engagement in arts promotes a sense of identity and makes a unique contribution to the lifelong learning of each student. Study of visual arts provides students with the opportunity to develop a critical and intensely personal view of themselves in relation to the world.
This course enables students to engage in both practical exploration and artistic production, and in independent contextual, visual and critical investigation. The course is apt for students who wish to pursue visual arts in higher education and also welcomes those who seek life enrichment through visual arts.
CAS is at the heart of the Diploma Programme. With its holistic approach, CAS is designed to strengthen and extend students’ personal and interpersonal learning in IBDP. CAS is organized around the three strands of creativity, activity and service defined as follows:
Theory of Knowledge allows students to ask second order questions about their subject, encourages them to reflect on the nature of knowledge, and how we know what we claim to know. The students must meet the TOK assessment requirements that include an exhibition submitting an essay on one of the prescribed titles for the examination session.
Extended essay is an independent research essay of 4000 words. Students must choose from the IB prescribed subjects. Students may select the research topic from one of the six subjects chosen during the two years course.
Students receive a grade/point from 1 to 7 in each of their six subjects plus up to 3 additional bonus grades/points for combined ToK/EE. This makes a maximum mark of 45 for each candidate.
The diploma is awarded to students scoring a minimum of 24 points providing they meet all the Core requirements

We offer a well-organized Career Counselling Centre on campus. This centre has benefited many students. The school offers a plethora of activities geared toward the holistic development of students. They get the opportunity to participate in co-curricular activities such as sports and games, and cultural programmes: Concurrence (Inter-house Competitions), MUN (Model United Nations), Inspiron Exhibition (Science Exhibition), NCLF (National Children’s Literary Festival). Assessment in the IBDP is criterion-referenced, not norm-referenced. This means that students are not placed into a normal distribution curve with a set proportion being deemed as having not passed the course. Knowledge and skills are assessed according to the student’s own achievement against a set of known criteria written by IB examiners.
